Azerbaijan to conduct excavations in Khojaly at suspected mass grave sites
The State Commission continues to search for Azerbaijani citizens missing in the First Garabagh War, including Natig Gasimov, State Commission for Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Citizens told Caliber.Az.
"Unfortunately, the State Commission has no information about the burial place of Natig Gasimov. However, we can assume that his body was buried on the territory of Khojaly district (former Askeran). The State Commission will conduct excavations and exhumations in all territories liberated from occupation, as well as in the alleged burial places of persons killed in the First Garabagh War in the territory of Khojaly district," the Commission noted.
Natig Gasimov was born on January 2, 1971 in Gadabay's Kichik Garamurad village. In 1991, he joined a detachment of volunteers in the First Garabagh War.
In 1992, Natig Gasimov and his comrades were surrounded by the Armenian invaders. After the death of his comrades, Natig Gasimov resisted the enemy for five days.
Gasimov left the Albanian church only after the Armenians threatened to kill 22 Khojaly residents if he did not surrender.
He kept the flag of Azerbaijan to the last in front of the Armenian aggressors.
