Azerbaijan to continue holding rallies on Khankendi-Lachin road until achieving results
Head of the State Environmental Security Service of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources Hikmat Alizade has said that the rallies on the Khankendi-Lachin road will continue until the result is achieved.
Alizade made the remarks at a press conference dedicated to the results of 2022 on January 6, Report informs.
He noted that there was no progress in preventing the illegal exploitation of the Azerbaijani mineral deposits in the territories liberated from occupation.
“The demands of the rally participants are simple. They are demanding permission to conduct monitoring in that territory,” Alizade said.
The rally against the illegal exploitation of mineral deposits in Karabakh is currently underway. It has been going on for 26 days.
Azerbaijani activists and members of environmental non-governmental organisations (NGOs) continue demanding an end to environmental terror in the Karabakh economic region in the vicinity of Shusha city, near the post of the temporary Russian peacekeeping mission.
A delegation of specialists from the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the State Service on Property Issues under the Ministry of Economyç and AzerGold company was supposed to conduct preliminary monitoring of the illegal exploitation of mineral deposits in the Azerbaijani territory, in which peacekeepers are temporarily stationed, as well as review the related environmental and other problems as a result of negotiations with the command of the Russian peacekeeping contingent held on December 3 and 7, 2022.
However, the monitoring was not carried out due to the inaction of the peacekeepers.
