21 April 2025 09:52

The construction of the Aghdam – Asgaran – Khojaly – Khankendi road, an essential component of Azerbaijan's road infrastructure projects in the liberated territories, has reached 72% completion.

According to a report by the State Agency for Automobile Roads of Azerbaijan, significant progress has been made on this vital transportation route, which will play a crucial role in enhancing connectivity across the region, per Caliber.Az.

The road, which spans a total of 33.6 kilometres, begins from the Barda–Aghdam highway. Currently, earthworks are being carried out along the route, with construction ongoing for five bridges—ranging from single-span to multi-span structures—at key locations along the road, including the 1.6, 4.4, 7.2, 9.6, and 14-kilometre marks.

Once completed, the Aghdam – Asgaran  – Khojaly – Khankendi road will significantly ease transportation in the region. It is expected to have a profound impact on the local economy by fostering the growth of agriculture and tourism. Additionally, the road will provide a convenient alternative route for drivers travelling from Barda to Khankendi, Shusha, and Lachin, bypassing the city of Aghdam.
