NomadMania travellers touring Aghdam: A journey through destruction and recovery UPDATED / PHOTO
A trip organised by the NomadMania tourist club to the Azerbaijani city of Aghdam began with a poignant visit to the Alley of Martyrs, a site devastated during the occupation.
The travellers were provided with detailed accounts of the widespread vandalism carried out by the Armenian armed forces during their occupation, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
The tour highlighted the brutal acts of ethnic cleansing, the destruction of historical and cultural landmarks, and the desecration of cemeteries, including the destruction of remains from graves.
The group also explored significant sites like the Juma Mosque and the Imarat complex. Tour guides shared insights into the ongoing efforts to clear landmines, the extensive restoration projects underway, and the resettlement of displaced residents in villages rebuilt after Agdam’s liberation.

A group of prominent international travellers from 30 countries has arrived in Azerbaijan’s Karabakh region as part of an organised tour by the renowned travel club NomadMania.
The visit marks the 13th such group expedition to the liberated territories since the end of the 2020 Patriotic War, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
The delegation includes adventurers and globetrotters from the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Brazil, India, China, Australia, and many other nations across Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas. Leading the group is Harry Mitsidis, a world-famous traveller and the founder of NomadMania, an elite network of the world’s most travelled individuals.
During their three-day journey through Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur, the visitors will be introduced to Azerbaijan’s extensive reconstruction and development initiatives. The itinerary includes site visits to newly built infrastructure, demining operations, and areas that still bear the scars of occupation and destruction by Armenian forces.
This journey plays a key role in promoting “dark tourism,” a growing global trend in which visitors explore places marked by historical conflict or tragedy. For Azerbaijan, it is also an opportunity to showcase the post-conflict recovery and revitalisation of its liberated regions.
The visit is the latest in a series of international group tours to the region by members of distinguished global travel networks such as ETIC, MTP, TCC, and NomadMania, as well as affiliated clubs including Türkiye’s Travellers Club, Sweden’s Club-100, the UK-based Piki Reels, and Norway’s Vagaclub.
