Azerbaijan to create area for containers in Türkiye's Adiyaman

14 February 2023 16:57

President of the Türkiye-Azerbaijan Businessmen and Industrialists Union (TUIB) Huseyin Buyukfirat has said that Azerbaijan, one of the first countries which began to assist Türkiye after the earthquakes in Kahramanmaras, will create an area for 1,000 containers in Adiyaman province.

Buyukfirat stated that from the first moment after the earthquake, all Azerbaijani organisations have tried to help Türkiye under the leadership of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, according to TRT Haber.

"Azerbaijan sends a lot of humanitarian aid. Investments are made in Kahramanmaras, Hatay and Adiyaman. We direct our trucks to the centre of AFAD [Türkiye Disaster and Management Authority]," he said.

While explaining that the work has started to create such an area, Buyukfirat noted that first, an area for 1,000 containers will be built in Adiyaman.

He noted that Azerbaijan does not leave Türkiye alone thanks to its support team consisting of 728 people.

He stated that the location will be coordinated with Adiyaman Governor Mahmut Cuhadar and the ministers and that there will be all social facilities in that area.

Buyukfırat said that then such areas will be created in Hatay and Kahramanmaras.

Stressing that the Azerbaijani people, from 7 to 70 years old, feel the pain of the Turkish people, he emphasised that the necessary assistance in connection with the area will be rendered.

Explaining that four trucks with humanitarian aid will be directed to Adiyaman and about 20 trucks to Kahramanmaras, Buyukfirat said that humanitarian aid, namely, food, blankets and children’s goods, is sent from Azerbaijan as part of one platform thanks to the support of the embassy and many non-governmental organisations. The trucks are moving to Kahta city.

"Food is delivered to 10,000 people daily in Kahta. An urgent need for food has been declared today. We will personally go and deliver the aid via our trucks," he said.
