Azerbaijan to develop maps to restore toponyms in Western Azerbaijan, Karabakh, Eastern Zangezur

Together with the Western Azerbaijani Community, a map will be developed to rename or return historical toponyms in Western Azerbaijan, Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur.

Chairman of the Milli Majlis Committee on Regional Issues, MP Siyavush Novruzov told Report.

According to him, academicians from ANAS, as well as institutes engaged in such activities, will be involved in this process.

Siyavush Novruzov also recalled that the legislative initiative in this regard belongs to President Ilham Aliyev.

“These issues are submitted for discussion in parliament after consideration by the Milli Majlis Committee on Regional Issues on the proposal of the president, after which an appropriate decision will be made,” he said.
