Azerbaijan, Pakistan reaffirm brotherhood, strategic alliance
Azerbaijan and Pakistan reaffirmed their unwavering support for each other and deep-rooted brotherly ties during a high-level meeting between Parliament Speaker Sahiba Gafarova and her Pakistani counterpart Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in Baku on July 7.
In a meeting that underscored the enduring friendship between the two nations, Speaker Gafarova described the visit as a testament to the strong, strategic partnership grounded in mutual respect and historical bonds, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
She highlighted the importance Azerbaijan places on Pakistan’s steadfast support throughout the 30-year Armenian occupation and the 2020 Patriotic War, stressing that this solidarity will not be forgotten.
Speaker Gafarova also emphasised the active collaboration between the two countries’ legislative bodies, particularly through their interparliamentary friendship groups and joint initiatives within international organisations. She noted that the Azerbaijan-Pakistan-Türkiye trilateral cooperation format is a key pillar in the broader regional alliance of the three nations.
Echoing these sentiments, Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq reaffirmed that Azerbaijan and Pakistan are “two brotherly nations that always stand by each other.” He expressed appreciation for Azerbaijan’s consistent solidarity with Pakistan, especially in the context of Islamabad’s conflict with India.
Speaker Sadiq also commended Azerbaijan for hosting the recent ECO Summit in Khankendi, calling it a powerful message to the international community in support of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity. He further advocated for deepening interparliamentary cooperation through knowledge sharing and frequent reciprocal visits, and offered insights into the structure and functions of the Pakistani Parliament.
The meeting concluded with discussions on a range of bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest, reinforcing the commitment of both countries to further strengthen their strategic partnership.
