Azerbaijan’s young border guards take military oath at solemn ceremony PHOTO
Young servicemen took the military oath during a ceremony held at formations and military units of Azerbaijan’s State Border Service.
The Battle Flag was brought onto the parade ground in accordance with military ritual. The ceremony began with the national anthem of Azerbaijan, followed by a minute of silence in memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs, Caliber.Az reports.
Speakers at the event wished the young servicemen success in faithfully serving the state and people, as well as the President of Azerbaijan and Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Ilham Aliyev. The servicemen were urged to maintain high military discipline, demonstrate vigilance and responsibility, master the border guard profession to the highest standard, and perform their duties to ensure reliable protection of the state border with distinction.
Following the solemn oath-taking ceremony, participants were presented with a congratulatory telephone message from State Border Service chief Colonel General Elchin Guliyev.
The event expressed confidence that the young servicemen, who have undertaken the honourable and responsible duty of defending the homeland and reliably protecting the state border, would faithfully serve the state, people and Supreme Commander-in-Chief.
The ceremony also included a meeting with the servicemen’s parents, during which their questions were answered. It concluded with the young servicemen marching ceremonially past the reviewing stand.
