Azerbaijan, UNCTAD discuss trade, investment, post-conflict reconstruction
Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Rebeca Grynspan on May 22 to discuss expanding cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), according to Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry.
The meeting focused on the current state and future prospects of cooperation in areas including sustainable development, international trade, investment promotion, digital transformation, the green economy, and the integration of developing countries into the global economy, Caliber.Az reports.
Bayramov emphasised Azerbaijan’s commitment to multilateral cooperation and outlined national initiatives in regional connectivity, transport and logistics development, energy security, and climate-related policies.
Grynspan expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation between UNCTAD and Azerbaijan, praising the country’s growing role in regional economic connectivity projects. She also highlighted the importance of expanding joint initiatives in trade and development under the UN framework.
The two sides also exchanged views on the post-conflict normalisation process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts in Azervbaijan's liberated territories.
Discussions further covered developments in the Middle East and their potential impact on global trade and economic stability, along with other regional and international issues of mutual interest.
