Azerbaijan urges India, Pakistan to resolve crisis through diplomacy
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has called on India and Pakistan to settle their escalating dispute through political and diplomatic means.
Speaking to journalists, Bayramov stated that Azerbaijan's position on the Pakistani-Indian issue is based on international law, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
"Azerbaijan's position is that one country has struck the territory of another state. We call on both sides to find a solution in a political way. If anyone is dissatisfied with our position, let them consider it carefully. In our opinion, there is a logical approach in our position," he noted.
Bayramov’s comments come amid a serious escalation between the two states. The current crisis was triggered by a deadly attack on tourists in Indian-administered Kashmir last month, which New Delhi has blamed on Pakistan-based militants.
In retaliation, India launched “Operation Sindoor,” targeting what it describes as “terrorist infrastructure” in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. The strikes sparked a rapid cycle of military responses between the two countries.
On May 10, Pakistan’s military announced the launch of a counteroffensive operation, “Bunyan Marsoos,” targeting multiple Indian military installations, including a missile storage facility in northern India. The strikes were in response to what Islamabad described as Indian air-to-surface missile attacks on three Pakistani airbases.
