Azerbaijani deputy FM exposes Armenia's use of fake social media accounts Passing them off as Azerbaijani ones
Armenia created fake accounts on social networks, which allegedly belonged to Azerbaijani users, Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov has said.
He made the announcement during the first round of oral arguments of the Azerbaijani side within the hearings on the application of ICERD (Azerbaijan v. Armenia) at the International Court of Justice in The Hague, Report informs.
According to Mammadov, the accounts were used to broadcast hate speech.
"In 2021, Twitter identified more than 30 accounts linked to the Armenian government that were either spreading hate speech against Azerbaijanis or were fake accounts purportedly belonging to Azerbaijani users and expressing hatred against Armenians," he said.
Mammadov noted that Armenia's official representative stated during the hearings that Azerbaijan was unable to provide any video evidence of Armenia's racial crimes.
"This is, again, a blatant lie. Contrary to the Armenian representative's assertion, no less than 17 video recordings showing horrific atrocities committed against Azerbaijanis were attached to Azerbaijan's lawsuit alone. Therefore, Azerbaijan's lawsuit against Armenia clearly falls under the convention's substantive jurisdiction," he said.
