Azerbaijan extradites fraud suspect from Montenegro
Azerbaijani authorities have extradited a man from Montenegro who was wanted on fraud charges under an international arrest warrant, the Prosecutor General's Office said.
The suspect, Khidayat Suleymanov, was charged in 2024 with fraud involving the alleged acquisition of another person's property through deception and abuse of trust, resulting in significant financial losses, according to the authorities, Caliber.Az reports.
Investigators located Suleymanov in Montenegro, where Azerbaijani prosecutors submitted a request for his extradition. Following cooperation between the two countries, Montenegro agreed to transfer the suspect to Azerbaijan.
Suleymanov was transported from the Montenegrin coastal town of Tivat to Azerbaijan on Tuesday. Upon his arrival, he was taken into custody and placed in a pre-trial detention facility in accordance with a court order, pending further legal proceedings.
