Azerbaijan recalls ambassador to Austria, appoints him as UN envoy in Geneva

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has recalled the country's ambassador to Austria and Slovenia and appointed him as Azerbaijan's permanent representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva and other international organisations.

According to presidential decrees, Rovshan Sadiqbayli has been recalled from his post as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Austria, where he also served concurrently as ambassador to Slovenia, Caliber.Az reports via state media.

Sadiqbayli has also been relieved of his duties as Azerbaijan's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Vienna, the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO), the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organisation (CTBTO).

In a separate decree, President Aliyev appointed Sadiqbayli as Azerbaijan's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva and other international organisations based in the Swiss city.

Additionally, Galib Malik oglu Israfilov has been relieved of his post as Permanent Representative of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the United Nations Office in Geneva and other international organisations.
