President Zhaparov says no outstanding issues remain between Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan

31 July 2026 09:07

Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov said there are no outstanding issues between Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan that could impede the development of bilateral relations, as the two countries moved to elevate their partnership to the level of an alliance.

Speaking at the third meeting of the Interstate Council of Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan in Cholpon-Ata, Zhaparov said the two nations were entering a new phase in their bilateral cooperation, Caliber.Az reports, citing official state media.

"The relationship between Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan rests on a solid foundation of friendship and mutual respect," Zhaparov said.

"There are no outstanding issues between Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan that could hinder the development of our strategic partnership. On the contrary, an atmosphere of complete trust and openness has been established, allowing us to move forward with confidence," he added.

His remarks came after Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev announced that the two countries had agreed to raise their bilateral relations to the level of an alliance.

Addressing the same meeting, Aliyev described the decision as "the highest level of cooperation,"
