Azerbaijani diaspora committee delegation visits Georgia PHOTO
A delegation headed by Vagif Seyidbayov, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora of Azerbaijan, is on a visit to Georgia.
The delegation of the State Committee, along with staff of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Georgia, visited the monument to the National Leader in Heydar Aliyev Park in Tbilisi and laid flowers at the monument, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
As part of the visit, the delegation also visited the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Georgia and held meetings with the leadership of the Marneuli, Bolnisi, and Dmanisi districts, as well as with community centres operating in these areas.
The visit of the delegation is ongoing.
Meetings are also planned with community centres in Rustavi, Sagarejo, Gardabani, and Lagodekhi, as well as with the leadership of the aforementioned districts.
Azerbaijan and Georgia maintain strong bilateral relations rooted in shared regional interests, energy cooperation, and active diaspora engagement. Ethnic Azerbaijanis represent one of the largest minority communities in Georgia, primarily concentrated in the Kvemo Kartli region, including the districts of Marneuli, Bolnisi, Dmanisi, Gardabani, and others.
The State Committee on Work with Diaspora of the Republic of Azerbaijan plays a key role in supporting Azerbaijani communities abroad, fostering cultural identity, and strengthening ties between the diaspora and their homeland. Delegations from the committee regularly visit neighboring countries with significant Azerbaijani populations to assess local needs, enhance cultural and educational cooperation, and coordinate with local authorities and community leaders.
