Azerbaijani FM, EU Enlargement Commissioner discuss cooperation in Baku
On 18 September 2025, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov held a meeting in Baku with Marta Kos, the European Commissioner for Enlargement, who is on an official visit to Azerbaijan.
The sides discussed the current cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and the European Union (EU), as well as prospects for expanding bilateral ties. They underlined the importance of high-level contacts in further strengthening relations, particularly in the present period marked by significant opportunities for partnership, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
Energy security, transport connectivity, and renewable energy development were highlighted as priority areas for cooperation. The parties also stressed the importance of joint efforts in tackling environmental challenges and addressing climate change.
Minister Bayramov briefed Commissioner Kos on the current situation in the South Caucasus during the post-conflict period, outlining the realities on the ground. He expressed satisfaction with the agreements reached during last month’s historic meeting in Washington, emphasising that Azerbaijan, as the initiator of the regional normalisation and peace process, will continue to advance its peace agenda.
The meeting also featured an exchange of views on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
