Azerbaijan backs Georgia’s territorial integrity, rejects Tskhinvali elections

Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry has reaffirmed its support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, stating that it does not recognize the so-called “presidential elections” held in Tskhinvali region.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan reaffirms its support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and does not recognize the so-called “Presidential elections” held in the Tskhinvali region of Georgia and their results," the ministry said in an official statement Caliber.Az reports.

Acting de facto leader Marat Kambolov was declared the winner of the so-called “presidential elections” held in Tskhinvali, South Ossetia region on September 18, a process that has drawn condemnation from Tbilisi and Western partners, including the EU, Norway, and the UK.
