Azerbaijani FM discusses bilateral relations with Djiboutian counterpart

Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has held a meeting with his Djiboutian counterpart Abdoulkader Houssein Omar on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, during which the two sides discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral relations.

Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry said in a post on X that both ministers stressed the importance of maintaining high-level contacts and political dialogue, Caliber.Az reports.

“Particular attention was given to expanding cooperation in trade, economy, education and humanitarian affairs making effective use of existing opportunities. Coordination and mutual support within the UN, OIC, NAM and other multilateral platforms were also discussed,” the ministry noted.

The agenda also included Azerbaijan’s preparations to host the OIC summit in 2027, as well as the country’s upcoming chairmanship of the organisation.

“Ministers also discussed evolving security situation in the broader Middle East and emphasized the importance for reducing tensions and resolve the situation peacefully,” it added.
