Azerbaijani gymnasts win European Championship
The European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship wrapped up in Baku on May 21.
As azerisport.com reports, finals in individual events were held on the last day of the competition.
In the evening part of the program, teams' performances in group exercises began. Azerbaijani group consisting of Laman Alimuradova, Gullu Agalarzade, Daria Sorokina, Zeynab Hummatova, Kamilla Aliyeva, and Elizaveta Luzan performed the final with five hoops, receiving 32.800 points, securing the eighth place.
In the subsequent performances with three ribbons and three balls, our team received a score of 32.250, topping the table as the winners of the EURO for the first time.

The Azerbaijani national team has won five medals at EURO: the junior team in group exercises consisting of Govhar Ibrahimova, Sakinahanym Ismailzade, Medina Aslanova, Ilaha Bahadirova, Ayan Sadikhova, and Zohra Jafarova won bronze in the all-around, as well as in the final with five balls.
Zohra Agamirova won bronze with a ball, while the senior group consisting of Laman Alimuradova, Gullu Agalarzade, Daria Sorokina, Zeynab Hummatova, Kamilla Aliyeva, and Elizaveta Luzan became third in the all-around and won gold with three ribbons and two balls.
On her official Instagram page, Azerbaijan's First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva congratulated Azerbaijani gymnasts on winning the European Championships.
"Hooray! Congratulations and proud! You are awesome! Thank you for your diligence, striving for victories, for your beauty and grace!” Aliyeva wrote, according to Caliber.Az.
In total, 315 gymnasts from 38 countries took part in the continental championship.
