Organizing committee of 2025 CIS Games gathers for first session in Azerbaijan
The first meeting of the Organizing Committee for the 3rd CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) Games, which will be held in Azerbaijan, has taken place.
The meeting was chaired by Azerbaijan's Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Organizational Committee Samir Sharifov, Caliber.Az reports.
On the top of the agenda were negotiations regarding the preparation works for the Games. In the course of the meeting, parties noted that the 2025 CIS Games will feature 23 sport disciplines.
The games will be held from September 28 to October 8 in Ganja, which has received the title of the "sports capital of the CIS in 2025," as well as in six other cities across the country. Ganja will host 8 competitions while Mingachevir will be home to 4 as well as Guba in 4, Sheki to 3, Goygol to 2, and Yevlakh and Khankendi will each host one sport tournament.
In addition to the sports delegations from CIS countries, athletes from other nations will also participate in the Games by invitation from the Azerbaijani government.
The previous two sessions of the CIS Games were hosted in the Belarusian capital of Minsk and the capital of the Tatarstan Republic in Russia.
