The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has responded to a complaint from the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Azerbaijan regarding the poor quality of medals won by Azerbaijani athletes at the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris.
The IOC has requested the Azerbaijani team to submit information about the athletes as well as photographs of the medals in question for further review, Caliber.Az reports citing Report publication. According to their response, the committee will provide clarifications on the replacement procedure after having inspected them.
Earlier, five Azerbaijani athletes who won medals at the Paris Olympics have filed complaints with the NOC about the rapid deterioration of their medals. In response, the NOC conducted an investigation and sent an official request to the IOC.
The coating of the gold medal of Olympic judo champion Zelim Kotsoev, the silver medals of taekwondo athlete Gashim Magomedov and boxer Alfonso Dominguez, as well as the bronze medals of Greco-Roman wrestler Hasrat Jafarov and freestyle wrestler Giorgi Meshvildishvili have all reportedly experienced peeling off.
