Azerbaijan joins key discussions at European Olympic Committees Assembly in Frankfurt
Representatives from the National Olympic Committee of Azerbaijan (NOC) are participating in the 54th General Assembly of the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in Frankfurt.
Azerbaijan's representatives are the NOC Vice President, Chingiz Huseynzada, Secretary General Azer Aliyev, and Head of the External Relations Department Anar Baghirov, Caliber.Az reports citing local media.
During the course of the assembly, the EOC signed the Host City Contract for the Istanbul 2027 European Games with Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) and the Turkish National Olympic Committee.
Besides the hosting of Europe's premier multi-sport event in Istanbul, other matters on the agenda included the elections for the EOC Director and Executive Committee, which resulted in the re-election of Spyros Capralos, as well as discussions on the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games and the EOC’s "Strategic Agenda – 2030."
Additionally, the event will feature the presentation of the Piotr Nurowski Prize for "Best Young European Athlete" and the European Olympic Committee's "Olympic Laurel" award.
