Azerbaijani high-quality marble set to soon enter international markets PHOTOS

Historically, the Azerbaijani city of Dashkasan has been rich in both ore and non-ore deposits. The marble produced here in the West of the country is comparable to the world-renowned Italian mineral which is why there exists significant interest in Dashkasan marble in both local and international markets. 

The chief foreman of the quarry, Gabil Gasimov, displayed the extraction process in a recent interview to Azertag, explaining, that the mountain is cut using special equipment to extract marble stones.

"I have been working in the marble quarries for almost 20 years, and it is very complex and labor-intensive work. First, the resources of the deposit are determined using specialized technology. Then, the raw material is cut and removed using heavy machinery. This is the white marble from the quarry we are currently working with. Of course, other quarries extract different types of marble in various colors," he said. The raw material extracted from the quarries is sent to local manufacturing enterprises. The marble mined here is used in the preparation of tombstones, monuments, statues, bas-reliefs, and more.

"The demand for the raw material extracted from our quarry is very high in the local market. Naturally, we strive to produce high-quality raw material to ensure that this demand remains constant. The products manufactured here are sent to local manufacturing enterprises based on orders," said entrepreneur Sarhan Abdullayev. He emphasized that Dashkasan marble is setting its sight on the expansion into global markets and hopes to maintain its leadership in the local market thanks to its superb quality for many years to come.
