Azerbaijani, Kazakh leaders discuss strategic ties and regional developments

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev met with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in Astana during the SCO Summit, thanking Tokayev for the invitation and highlighting Kazakhstan's supportive stance towards Azerbaijan.

Aliyev expressed gratitude for Tokayev's historic state visit to Azerbaijan, noting its significance and the ongoing cooperation in restoring liberated territories. He praised the Kurmangazy Center as a symbol of Kazakh-Azerbaijani friendship, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

Discussions focused on advancing transportation infrastructure, particularly the Trans-Caspian route, underscoring joint efforts and upcoming talks at the Organization of Turkic States summit in Shusha.

Aliyev emphasized the strategic importance of the Organization of Turkic States and commended Kazakhstan's development under Tokayev's leadership, expressing support for Kazakhstan's international standing and reforms.

Tokayev affirmed Kazakhstan's readiness to support Azerbaijan's full membership in the SCO and congratulated Azerbaijan on hosting COP29, highlighting Azerbaijan's capability to host prestigious global events.

The leaders discussed initiatives related to the Middle Corridor and emphasized cooperation in cultural exchanges, including the upcoming Azerbaijani Culture Days in Kazakhstan.
