Azerbaijani Interior Minister, Colonel-General Vilayat Eyvazov has praised the significant progress made by the internal troops over the years.
Eyvazov made these remarks during the ceremony at the Main Directorate of Internal Troops of the Azerbaijani Interior Ministry on the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of the establishment of the internal troops, the Azerbaijani Interior Ministry told Caliber.Az.
The event highlighted the growth and development of the internal troops into a professional unit that plays a key role in maintaining the country's security and stability.
Eyvazov emphasised the internal troops’ ability to effectively carry out combat tasks and their vital role in upholding national stability and serving as a pillar of the Azerbaijani statehood.
"The personnel of the internal troops have always fulfilled their duties in combating crime, maintaining public order, and neutralising armed criminal groups," Eyvazov said.
He also outlined the strategic objectives for the future, offering clear directives and recommendations to further strengthen the internal troops' capabilities.
The ceremony concluded with the recognition and awarding of military personnel who had excelled in their service, honouring their commitment and contribution to Azerbaijan's safety and stability.
The Internal Troops, operating under the Interior Ministry, are a vital military formation within Azerbaijan's Armed Forces. Tasked with critical responsibilities, the Internal Troops safeguard the rights and interests of individuals, society, and the state, ensuring the protection of citizens' constitutional freedoms and defending against criminal activities and other unlawful acts.
