Azerbaijani parliament speaker in Russia for CIS Assembly, WWII commemoration ceremonies
Speaker of the Milli Majlis (Parliament) of Azerbaijan, Sahiba Gafarova, has arrived in St. Petersburg on a working visit at the head of a parliamentary delegation to participate in the meeting of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly Council, the 58th Plenary Session of the CIS IPA, and ceremonial events marking the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism.
The Milli Majlis’ Department of Public Relations and Press reported the news to local media, per Caliber.Az.
Upon arrival at Pulkovo Airport, Gafarova was welcomed by Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg Nikolai Bondarenko, MP Andrei Alasgarov, Chairman of the Committee for External Relations of the St. Petersburg Government Evgeny Grigoriev, Secretary-General of the CIS IPA Council Dmitry Kobitsky, Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Russia Rahman Mustafayev, Azerbaijan’s Permanent Representative to the CIS IPA Aydin Jafarov, Acting Consul General of Azerbaijan in St. Petersburg Anar Yusifzada, and other officials.
During the visit, Speaker Sahiba Gafarova is expected to deliver speeches at the CIS IPA Council and Plenary Session and to hold a series of meetings with heads of parliamentary delegations participating in the event.
