Azerbaijani police seize over 10 kg of heroin in Georgian border

Two citizens of Azerbaijan have been detained for drug smuggling on the territory of the Vakhtangisi border checkpoint in Georgia.

They are accused of illegally crossing the Georgian border, acquiring, storing and importing narcotic substances in large quantities, the Georgian Bureau of Report informs referring to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.

According to the investigation, they had bypassed the checkpoint on the border with Georgia in a roundabout way, smuggling over 10 kg of heroin.

The suspects will be sentenced to 15 or 20 years in prison or life imprisonment.
