Azerbaijani president hosts new ambassadors from Guinea and Slovenia, receives credentials Photo
On January 27, President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, received the credentials of two newly appointed ambassadors: Oumar Kande, Ambassador of the Republic of Guinea, and Gorazd Renčelj, Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia.
Ambassador Kande presented his credentials to President Aliyev, and the two engaged in a constructive conversation, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The Azerbaijani President expressed optimism about the continued growth of political and economic relations between Azerbaijan and Guinea.
He highlighted the successful partnership between the two nations within various international organizations, including the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and the Non-Aligned Movement. President Aliyev emphasized the importance of identifying promising areas for further collaboration and strengthening mutually supportive relations.
Noting that many African students are currently studying in Azerbaijan, the President highlighted the scholarship programs available to students from OIC and Non-Aligned Movement member states, underscoring that Guinean students could also benefit. He also pointed to Azerbaijan’s sharing of its ASAN and DOST service experiences with other countries and suggested potential cooperation with Guinea in this area.
Ambassador Kande conveyed the greetings of Guinean President Mamady Doumbouya to President Aliyev and offered condolences for the recent tragic plane crash in Azerbaijan. He expressed Guinea's interest in deepening cooperation with Azerbaijan, particularly in areas such as education, mining, and e-government.
Both parties stressed the importance of enhancing direct links between the economic institutions of the two countries and exploring new avenues for economic collaboration.
In the second meeting of the day, President Aliyev received Ambassador Renčelj, who presented his credentials. The Slovenian Ambassador first congratulated Azerbaijan on the successful organization of COP29, noting its impressive outcomes despite the short preparation time.
President Aliyev thanked Ambassador Renčelj for the congratulations, praising Slovenia’s active role in the event and emphasizing the significance of the conference in advancing the global climate agenda.
During their conversation, the two officials reflected on the long-standing and productive bilateral ties between Azerbaijan and Slovenia, with President Aliyev recalling successful exchanges during prior visits by the leaders of both countries. The President expressed confidence that this cooperation would continue to flourish.
The conversation also covered topics such as political consultations between the foreign ministers of both nations, the establishment of a working group on economic cooperation, and plans for future high-level reciprocal visits.
Ambassador Renčelj emphasized Azerbaijan’s vital role in the South Caucasus and the Trans-Caspian transport corridor. The two discussed cooperation in the energy sector, with a focus on the delivery of Azerbaijani gas to Slovenia as a significant milestone in strengthening bilateral relations.
