Slovenian referee Slavko Vinčić appointed to officiate 2026 World Cup final
FIFA has named Slovenian referee Slavko Vinčić as the man in charge of the 2026 FIFA World Cup final between Spain and Argentina.
Vinčić will be assisted by fellow Slovenians Tomaž Klančnik and Andraž Kovačič, with Jordanian officials Adham Makhadmeh and Mohammad Al-Khalaf appointed as the fourth official and reserve assistant referee, respectively, according to Sport.
The Slovenian official has already overseen three matches at this year’s tournament. He refereed Brazil’s 1-1 draw with Morocco and Jordan’s 2-1 victory over Algeria during the group stage, before taking charge of the round-of-32 encounter between Mexico and Ecuador, which Mexico won 2-0.
Across those games, Vinčić handed out seven yellow cards and one red card.
The World Cup final will be played on July 19 at the stadium in the New York metropolitan area in the United States, with kick-off set for 23:00 Baku time.
