Sabah FC thanks Azerbaijani president for congratulations on victory

Azerbaijani football club Sabah has thanked President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev for congratulating the team on reaching the main stage of the UEFA Champions League for the first time in its history following a victory over Israel’s Hapoel Be’er Sheva (1:2, 5:2).

The club said the president’s congratulations made the victory even more joyful for the team, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

“Your constant attention to and care for the development of Azerbaijani sports, including football, as well as the opportunities created for the development of sports clubs, are a tremendous incentive for such historic achievements and further increase our responsibility,” the statement reads.

It further stressed that the club will continue to fight with determination to represent Azerbaijan with dignity in Europe’s most prestigious football tournament and raise the status of the country’s football to an even higher level.

“We learn from you the determination to fight to the end and believe in victory. As the creators of the great victories of the Azerbaijani people, we also draw strength and inspiration from you. On behalf of Sabah Football Club, we once again express our deep gratitude for your close attention,” the statement concluded.
