Spanish Super Cup to be held in Türkiye, instead of Saudi Arabia
The 2027 Spanish Super Cup will be held in Istanbul, Türkiye, instead of Saudi Arabia, as the kingdom will host the Asian Cup during the same period, the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has announced.
It said that four teams have competed for the Spanish Super Cup since 2020, when the tournament also began being held in Saudi Arabia, Caliber.Az reports.
The exception was 2021, when the trophy was contested in Spain due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This year, defending champions Barcelona will compete for the Super Cup alongside Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Real Sociedad.
The matches will be played at the Olympic Stadium from February 2 to 7.
The Super Cup will return to Saudi Arabia in 2028.
Barcelona holds the record for the most Super Cup victories, with 16 titles.
