Lithuanian ambassador praises Qarabağ FK despite European setback

Lithuania’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan Kęstutis Vaškelevičius has praised Qarabağ FK and head coach Gurban Gurbanov despite the team’s latest European defeat.

In a post on X, Vaškelevičius said the result of the match could not diminish what Qarabağ had achieved over the years.

“Big respect to Qarabağ FK and to its HC Mr. Gurban Gurbanov,” the ambassador wrote, highlighting Gurbanov’s long-standing leadership and his role in securing memorable European victories.

Vaškelevičius also praised Gurbanov’s contribution to Azerbaijani football culture, saying that such legacies endure.

Qarabağ’s European campaign has come to an end after the Azerbaijani side suffered a 4-1 defeat to Dutch club Twente in the second leg of the UEFA Conference League play-off round.

Twente secured a 4-2 aggregate victory to book their place in the Conference League league phase.
