Baku to host international beach polo tournament at Sea Breeze PHOTO
Azerbaijan will host an international beach polo tournament in Baku next month, bringing together teams from four countries for a three-day competition.
The tournament, organised by the Azerbaijan Equestrian Federation (ARAF), will be held for the first time at Sea Breeze, a resort complex in the Nardaran area of Baku’s Sabunchu district, Caliber.Az reports.

Teams representing Azerbaijan, Switzerland, Russia and the United Kingdom will compete in the tournament.
The matches are scheduled for September 11–13, running from Friday through Sunday, with competitions beginning at 4 p.m. each day. Tickets are available through Azerbaijan’s iTicket ticketing platform.
Polo, often referred to as the “sport of royalty,” is known for its combination of horsemanship, speed and strategy. The sport also has deep historical roots in Azerbaijan and other Turkic regions, where a traditional form of polo known as chovgan has been played for centuries.
The Azerbaijan Equestrian Federation is headed by Colonel General Elchin Guliyev, who also serves as chief of Azerbaijan’s State Border Service.
