Ronaldo expresses support for Messi following his father’s death

Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has expressed his support for Inter Miami striker Lionel Messi following the death of his father.

Messi posted a heartfelt letter dedicated to his father on Instagram, to which Ronaldo responded with a comment, saying, “A huge hug to you and yours in these tough times. Much strength,” Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.

Jorge Messi had been battling an incurable illness in the final months of his life and died on Saturday, August 8.

A private funeral service was held on August 9 under heightened security measures.

However, several media representatives managed to enter the ceremony.

Following the tragedy, Messi suspended his appearances for the club.

In June, Messi’s family confirmed that Jorge was experiencing health problems but did not disclose his diagnosis.

On July 22, Messi travelled to Rosario following the 2026 World Cup.

According to media reports, the footballer decided to spend time with his father before later returning to his club.
