Azerbaijani researcher to run in Turkish parliamentary election

Daria Akdemir, a writer and researcher of Azerbaijani descent who represents the Community of Western Azerbaijan in Türkiye , chairwoman of the Turkish Association Anka has registered to run in the fraternal country's parliamentary elections on May 14.

She herself reported this to Report's Ankara bureau.

According to her, she independently nominated her candidacy from the third electoral district of Istanbul and received documents that she submitted to the Central Election Commission.

Akdemir justified her desire to become a deputy of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye in this way:

"My goal is to provide as much support as possible to the development of relations between Türkiye and Azerbaijan, as well as other Turkic-speaking states," she said.
