Azerbaijanis join Independence Day march in Tbilisi
Azerbaijanis living in Georgia took part in celebrations marking Georgia’s Independence Day in Tbilisi, joining a public procession on Freedom Square alongside local participants.
Members of the Azerbaijani community carried both Azerbaijani and Georgian flags during the march, highlighting what organisers and participants described as close ties between the two countries, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
Participants said the display reflected friendship and strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Georgia, extending beyond diplomatic relations to people-to-people connections.
The event took place in central Tbilisi, near the historic site where both Georgia and Azerbaijan’s declarations of independence were made. Azerbaijan is set to mark its own Independence Day in the coming days.
Cultural, sporting and entertainment events continue across the Georgian capital as part of the broader Independence Day programme.
