Bahrain bans citizens from travelling to Iran, Iraq

Bahrain has prohibited its citizens from travelling to Iran and Iraq, citing heightened regional security risks, according to a statement from the Ministry of Interior.

The ministry said the decision was taken due to “the ongoing tension in the current security situation,” and urged citizens to comply with the ban as authorities move to protect national security and public safety, Al Jazeera reports. 

The measure will remain in place amid continued instability in parts of the Middle East and a fragile security environment in the region.
