Bahrain, US, UK hold emergency security talks over Iran threat
The Kingdom of Bahrain, together with the United States and the United Kingdom, held extraordinary security consultations on March 5 under Article II of the Comprehensive Security Integration and Prosperity Agreement (C-SIPA), as regional tensions continue to escalate.
The meeting brought together Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, National Security Advisor and Secretary General of Bahrain’s Supreme Defence Council, Admiral Brad Cooper, commander of United States Central Command, and Sir Richard Knighton, Chief of the Defence Staff of the United Kingdom. All three officials are members of the C-SIPA Defence Working Group, Caliber.Az reports via Bahrain News Agency.
During the consultations, officials reviewed the current security environment in the region, focusing on Iran strikes and the esclating situation in the region that threatens the stability of Bahrain and neighbouring states.
Participants emphasised the strength of cooperation among the three countries and reaffirmed their commitment to coordinating responses to regional security challenges.
The discussions also highlighted the strategic partnership created under C-SIPA, which aims to deepen defence cooperation and strengthen collective deterrence against external threats.
All parties reiterated their intention to continue working together to confront actions that could threaten the sovereignty and territorial integrity of any member state, stressing that the partnership reflects close security ties and a shared objective of maintaining stability across the region.
