Baku, Cairo to strengthen cooperation in urban development
Azerbaijan and Egypt have agreed to expand cooperation in the field of urban development following a meeting between Egypt's Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, Sherif El-Sherbiny and Anar Guliyev, Chairman of Azerbaijan’s State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture.
The meeting was held on the margins of the 12th World Urban Development Forum, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
During the discussions, El-Sherbiny highlighted Egypt’s readiness to share its extensive experience in urban development with Azerbaijan. This includes expertise in the construction of fourth-generation cities—also known as "sustainable smart cities"—as well as successful projects in drinking water supply and drainage infrastructure.
The Egyptian minister also emphasized that Egyptian companies are actively involved in urban development projects across Africa and the Middle East and are prepared to bring their expertise to other regions globally.
Guliyev, for his part, underscored the strong ties between Egypt and Azerbaijan, both at the governmental and people-to-people levels. He expressed a strong desire to deepen cooperation in urban development and leverage Egypt's valuable experience in this field.
