Azerbaijan, Hungary discuss central banking cooperation at BIS meeting PHOTO

Azerbaijan and Hungary held a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the 95th annual Bank for International Settlements (BIS) meeting in Basel, Switzerland, to discuss the regional economic situation and key issues on the central banking agenda.

The meeting brought together Taleh Kazımov, Chairman of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA), and Mihali Varga, Chairman of the Central Bank of Hungary, Caliber.Az reports per CBA. 

The two officials exchanged views on regional economic trends and explored opportunities for expanding institutional cooperation between their countries’ central banks.

In a post on X, Kazimov highlighted that the BIS meeting provided a valuable platform for discussing global financial stability, innovation, digital security, and monetary policy. He stressed that such high-level exchanges contribute significantly to the sustainable development of Azerbaijan’s financial system.

“During the event, we held bilateral meetings with several central bank leaders. In these meetings, potential cooperation opportunities between central banks and regional economic trends were discussed,” Kazimov added.
