Baku Crystal Hall to host World Taekwondo Championship anniversary
The 50th anniversary of the World Taekwondo Championship (WTF) will be held at Baku Crystal Hall from May 29 to June 4, 2023.
WTF President Cho Jeong-won visited Baku to familiarize himself with the preparation activities for the World Championships, Azertag reports, citing Azerbaijan Taekwondo Federation (ATF).
Within the framework of the visit, the WTF head met Minister of Youth & Sports Farid Gayibov and deputy minister Mariana Vasileva, ATF president Kamaladdin Heydarov and Federation's vice-president Nagi Safarov.
During the meetings, the sides discussed preparations for the World Cup, which will be hosted by Azerbaijan for the first time.
Opinions were exchanged on the competition ground. Cho Jeongwon was offered several options for holding the World Cup, which will be held at the Baku Crystal Hall sports and concert complex.
The World Championships, which will celebrate half a century of WTF, will be held on the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the World Taekwondo Federation. Up to 3,000 guests are expected to attend the celebrations and the championship.
