Baku highlights city-building success at global expo in Turkmenistan PHOTO
Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Turkmenistan, Gismet Gozalov, presented Baku’s urban development projects at the 25th International Exhibition and Conference “White City Ashgabat 2026,” highlighting initiatives in urban planning, architecture, and sustainable development, as well as the significance of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) for the Turkmen side.
He noted that hosting major international events such as COP29 and WUF13 in Baku demonstrates Azerbaijan’s active role in advancing global cooperation in the field of urbanization, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
According to Gozalov, WUF13 addressed the impact of rapid urbanization on cities, climate, economies, and governance processes, while also presenting innovative solutions for building safe, sustainable, and inclusive urban environments.
He added that Turkmenistan was represented at the forum by a delegation led by Deryageldi Orazov, chairman of the State Committee for the Construction of Arkadag City. The country also showcased its “Smart City – Smart Future” pavilion at the Urban Expo exhibition.
The diplomat further highlighted reconstruction and urban planning projects underway in Azerbaijan, including in Karabakh, emphasizing the implementation of “smart city” and “smart village” concepts, the development of digital infrastructure, energy efficiency, and environmental monitoring systems.
