Baku, Islamabad move to strengthen legal, judicial collaboration
A delegation from Azerbaijan, led by Justice Minister Farid Ahmadov, met with the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Pakistan to discuss judicial cooperation, institutional reforms, and the strengthening of bilateral ties in the field of justice.
The Azerbaijani delegation included the Director General for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Justice, Adil Abilov, and the First Secretary of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Islamabad, Samir Ahmedali. Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Law and Justice, Azam Nazeer Tarar, also attended the meeting, Caliber.Az reports, citing Associated Press of Pakistan.
During the discussions, the sides exchanged views on issues of mutual interest, including the rule of law, judicial training, digital transformation of courts, alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, and the exchange of best practices in judicial administration.
The Chief Justice briefed the delegation on ongoing reforms in Pakistan’s judicial system, particularly efforts aimed at integrating technology, building judicial capacity, empowering citizens, and improving the quality of court services.
Minister Ahmadov praised the role of Pakistan’s judiciary in upholding the rule of law and expressed interest in expanding cooperation between the two countries in judicial training, legal research, and institutional development.
The visiting delegation also acknowledged Pakistan’s support for strengthening bilateral relations and regional cooperation.
The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to deepening judicial cooperation through structured engagement, exchange programmes, and institutional partnerships.
