In this test flight, the Bayraktar TB3 was equipped with the domestic ASELFLIR-500 camera system.
The trial also involved testing the drone’s identification system and performance capabilities at an altitude of 20,000 feet (6,100 metres).
Note that, as of November 20, Bayraktar TB3 drone successfully completed its first takeoff and landing on the TCG Anadolu ship.
Selçuk Bayraktar, Chief Technology Officer of Baykar, shared the news on X, stating, "We never stopped chasing what we love." The drone, developed by the Turkish company Baykar, conducted its tests on a short deck with a 12-degree incline and achieved a 46-minute flight over the Aegean and Mediterranean Seas.
These milestones were reached aboard the TCG Anadolu, making the Bayraktar TB3 the first military drone in aviation history to take off and land on a ship with a short runway.
Equipped with the domestically produced PD-170 engine by TUSAS and the ASELFLIR-500 optical system from Aselsan, the drone is designed for reconnaissance, surveillance, targeting, and weapons control. Its foldable wings and beyond-line-of-sight communication enable it to perform long-range operations.
