Bayraktar: Türkiye seeks to boost natural gas supplies from Azerbaijan
Türkiye aims to accelerate efforts to increase natural gas supplies from Azerbaijan, Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar said at the 4th Azerbaijan–Türkiye Energy Forum in İzmir.
Bayraktar highlighted the strategic significance of bilateral energy projects, noting that the countries’ joint initiatives in the oil and gas sector reflect a shared, results-oriented vision, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
“Our cooperation, which began with the Azeri–Chirag–Gunashli and Shah Deniz fields, has now entered a new phase with the agreement signed this year on the Shafag–Asiman field,” he said.
The minister added that strengthening collaboration on the Karabakh, D130, and Dostlug fields remains among Türkiye’s main priorities.
Bayraktar also underscored the importance of the memorandum signed on May 14, 2023, between Türkiye and Azerbaijan on natural gas cooperation, noting that "this document will enhance the energy security of our countries and further boost our regional cooperation.”
