Beijing blasts US pressure to sever Venezuela’s ties with Moscow, China
China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning criticised the United States for pressuring Venezuela to sever ties with Moscow and Beijing to grant American companies exclusive access to the country’s oil, calling it a “typical act of bullying.”
Mao emphasised that Venezuela is a sovereign nation with full and inalienable control over its resources, and that Washington’s actions violate international law and the rights of the Venezuelan people, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
“The US' brazen use of force against Venezuela and its demand that the country dispose of its oil resources under an 'America First' principle constitutes a typical act of bullying, seriously violates international law, gravely infringes upon Venezuela's sovereignty, and severely harms the rights of the Venezuelan people,” Mao said.
Earlier, the US administration informed Venezuela’s interim authorities of the conditions to be met before approving increased oil production, including severing economic ties with China, Russia, Iran, and Cuba, and expelling their representatives from the country, according to ABC News.
