Belarus president responds to US doubts over nuclear weapons in Minsk

11 November 2025 09:25

Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has addressed US skepticism regarding the deployment of tactical nuclear weapons on Belarus territory.

His remarks came during a meeting to finalize the country’s socio-economic development program for 2026–2030, Caliber.Az reports, citing Belarus media.

During the discussion, one of the key points raised concerned the inclusion of a priority to strengthen national defence capabilities in the draft program. President Lukashenko underscored the critical importance of this issue, noting that it pertains to military policy, strategy, and defence — areas where certain classified information must remain undisclosed, including matters related to nuclear weapons.

“The Americans continue to claim they are uncertain whether nuclear weapons are stationed in Belarus. Let them think that; we have already warned them. We do not disclose how many and where — that is my business. The weapons are stored securely. In fact, they were recently serviced in Russia and returned in their most modern tactical form. Such details cannot be revealed, and the secrecy is intended not so much for our citizens as for those abroad,” the president stated.

Lukashenko also drew parallels between this secrecy and the country’s approach to other strategic systems, specifically mentioning the Oreshnik missile complex, which is expected to be placed on combat duty in December 2025.

“We will not disclose details. It is a mobile complex that will never remain in one place. It will patrol designated points and [if necessary] deliver a strike from a chosen location,” the president added.
