Bilateral ties in focus as UAE president begins official visit to Moscow
United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has arrived in Moscow for an official visit.
Shortly before landing, the UAE President’s aircraft was escorted by Russian military jets, a gesture underscoring the significance of the visit, Caliber.Az reports, citing Arab media.
Upon arrival at Vnukovo Airport, Sheikh Mohamed was welcomed with full military honors, including a guard of honour and the playing of both countries’ national anthems.
He was received on the tarmac by senior Russian officials including Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin, First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund Kirill Dmitriev, and LDPR Chairman Leonid Slutsky. A military band also performed as part of the formal reception.
According to the Kremlin press service, Sheikh Mohamed is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with President Vladimir Putin during the visit. Discussions are expected to focus on enhancing Russian-Emirati cooperation in key sectors such as energy, investment, trade, and advanced technology, as well as regional and international security challenges.
Both leaders are anticipated to exchange views on pressing geopolitical developments, with a particular emphasis on the Middle East, where both countries have played active diplomatic roles in recent years. The meeting is also likely to address ongoing international efforts related to the conflict in Ukraine, global energy markets, and regional stability.
