Black box of Libyan military plane damaged in fatal crash—Turkish minister
The flight recorder of the Libyan aircraft that tragically crashed in Türkiye has been found damaged, Turkish authorities confirmed.
Abdulkadir Uraloglu, Türkiye’s Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, stated that the black box data will be analyzed and decoded in the United Kingdom, Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.
The crash occurred on December 23 of last year, when a Falcon 50 aircraft registered 9H-DFJ, departed from Ankara Esenboğa Airport bound for Libya’s capital, Tripoli. The plane went down near the Haymana region.
The accident claimed the lives of several senior Libyan military officials, marking a severe blow to the country’s defence leadership. Among the deceased were: Libyan Chief of General Staff of the Libyan Army, Lieutenant General Mohamed Al-Haddad, Lieutenant General Al-Fitouri Ghraibil, Chief of Staff of the Ground Forces, Brigadier General Mahmoud Al-Gatawi, Director of the Military Industries Organisation, Mohamed Al-Asawi Diab, Advisor to the Chief of the General Staff, Mohamed Omar Ahmed Mahjoub, Photographer at the General Staff Media Office.
There are believed to have been three crew members who also lost their lives.
General Haddad and his team had been in Türkiye for talks aimed at further strengthening military and security co-operation between the two countries.
