Black Sea Petroleum aims to capture Georgia’s fuel market
30 March 2026 10:58
Black Sea Petroleum is planning to fully supply Georgia with its own petroleum products, according to Georgian media cited by Caliber.Az.
The company currently owns the country’s only oil refinery, located at the Kulevi oil terminal, which produces semi-finished products for petrol, diesel, and aviation fuel. By 2027, the facility aims to switch to producing Euro-5 standard fuels.
Among its clients are major global players such as Saudi Aramco and Trafigura.
According to CEO David Potskhveria, the company’s goal is to make Georgia not only self-sufficient but also a fuel exporter, including to the EU market.
The refinery currently relies on Russian crude, but plans are underway to switch to oil supplies from Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.
